Welcome from the Worshipful Master
Welcome to the 177th year of Kennesaw Lodge No. 33. It is a great honor to have been elected as Worshipful Master for the year 2020 (6020 A.L.) and I look forward to serving you for the upcoming year.
This is going to be a busy year and we have many tasks before us. With the support of everyone, I expect us to have a great and momentous year!
Three things I want us to focus on this year are:
- Being visible within our community
- Actively engaging with all the Brethren
- Continuing our Charitable Fundraising efforts.
Each of these will lead to not only a successful 2020, but will continue to benefit the Lodge & our community in the future.
Throughout the year we will be focusing on our Youth Organizations, the Rainbow Assembly and the Demolay, and helping to grow our children into great members of society and the leaders of tomorrow.
A second area of focus is on our Appendant Bodies, the York Rite, Scottish Rite, Shrine, Eastern Star and all of the other opportunities we have to serve within Masonry. We have a lot to offer to our Brethren and Families, and it is important to me to help each and every one of you to grow and learn.
This is a very important year, as we celebrate our own RWB Jan Giddens as he journeys towards the East as the Deputy Grandmaster of Masons in Georgia. We will be hosting a Roast for him on October 17, 2020. Stay tuned for more details, and let me know if you are interested in helping.
Our first Fundraiser will be our annual Pancake Breakfast, scheduled for March 28, 2020 from 8am until 11am. Our second main Fundraiser of the year, the annual BBQ, is scheduled for June 6, 2020 from 10am until 1pm.
We are also investigating setting up a booth or tent in Marietta Square this year. I hope that this gives us an opportunity to raise funds for our charitable work and to talk with anyone who might be curious about the Fraternity. This will help us be active and visible in the community.
I pledge that there will be Open Lodge meetings for you to bring friends and family. This will be an opportunity to invite others to learn what Masonry is all about and the great Lodge we have built.
Reviving a tradition, we will be having a Family Picnic in September at Red Top Mountain. Keep an eye on the Website and Facebook page for the date and time.
You should have received a letter pertaining to the 2020 Annual Dues. Presently, about 50% of our Lodge members are of Emeritus status. We would be most grateful if those of you who hold either Emeritus or Perpetual Membership would consider a financial Love Gift to support our Lodge.
Brethren, thank you for your support of our Lodge throughout 2020. It is only with your help that we can make this year successful.
I look forward to serving as your Worshipful Master.
Jay Finch, Worshipful Master
